Environmental awareness & sustainability are one of the pillars of our small business.

Organic growing is important to JLF because it compliments our mission of growing something that is good for people while growing it in a way that is good for the land.  On our James Lake marsh we have been using organic growing practices since 2005.  We have learned a lot along the way as our methods have evolved and changed.  In many ways our methods are a combination of very old cultural practices, such as flooding for insect control and very new cultural practices, such as pheromone mating disruption.

As an owner, sustainability is important because it increases the probability that our farm will be operating well into the future.  The legacy of caring for the land will remain for future generations.  - John
